BREAKING (the) BAD

BREAKING (the) BAD

Changing unhealthy patterns in any form can be difficult. Sometimes the easiest way to go about it is by substitution; put something better in place of your bad habit.

Not sure where to begin? The very first step is to get into the right mind set. Remind yourself why you want to break free of your unhealthy dating patterns and think about the positive long term effects it will have on your life. Once you feel mentally prepared, get started.

1. Say Goodbye

Start by immediately ending any relationships that you know aren’t healthy for you. It’s not easy to do, but the longer you stay in it, the harder it will be to get out.

2. Fix your life

Work on any other parts of your life that need to be in order and make that your absolute priority. Being ready to date depends a lot on having the rest of your life together. Consider your career, living situation and relationships with friends and family.

3. Exercise!

Join a gym ASAP. There is every reason for some form of exercise to be part of your daily routine. Working out is such a feel good activity and one that reaps the most benefits. It helps clear the mind and allows us to focus. You will look good and feel even better.

4. Expand your mind

Just because you may not be in school anymore, doesn’t mean it’s not your job to get an education. Read, watch documentaries, take a class. Don’t underestimate the importance of being in the know.

5. Step out of your comfort zone

Challenge yourself in trying new things. Be it an extreme sport, baking or taking a spinning class, as long as it’s new and different, you will grow from the experience and learn more about yourself.

Words can’t describe the feeling that accompanies being the best version of yourself. It’s important not to get overwhelmed, so don’t make too many changes all at once.

We wrote this article in order of what we feel is most important; start at the top and work your way down the list. Everything takes time and small steps in the right direction is the only way to get on the right track.
